Beginning in Malibu, California, this four-set even has a baby in the band—the bassist is only 18. Having the advantage of starting up in the glorious (I’m biased) LA indie music scene, they’ve done it all; they’ve played the tiny standing room only Echo (500 people) and a 15,000 seat arena as an opener for maroon 5. Their first full length record, Carnivore, was released on Record Collection after a series of EPs. Carnivore, definitely for the better, has the EP’s greatest tracks such as “The Awful Things,” “All Her Crooked Ways,” and “The Execution Song,” and epic seven minute long tune that keeps your ears locked on the speakers. If there were any misses on the CD, Simon Dawes would not get the attention that I’m giving them on my page. Here’s a taste of Carnivore, but go out and buy it on Itunes or online. Go. Now.
